Malunggay Nutrients
Recently widely featured as a "wonder tree" is the malungay/malunggay /horse radish tree(moringa oleifera). Abundant and easy to grow its leaves are rich in vitamin A, iron, calcium, protein, potassium and vitamin C. Like other green leafy vegetables malungay is a good source of dietary fiber. It may be cooked with chicken, pork, beef and fish. It has also been added as ingredient for vegetable ice cream, and desserts. Breast-feeding mothers are encouraged to increase their intake of malungay leaves to provide more milk and nutrients to their infants.
